Edo Police Rescue Three AAU Students, Neutralise Kidnap Suspect in Rescue Operation
The Edo State Police Command has rescued three students of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, who were abducte
d by suspected kidnappers, following a coordinated rescue operation by security operatives.
According to the police, the victims regained their freedom after operatives launched a tactical operation that led to an exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers in a forest hideout.
During the operation, one of the suspected kidnappers was neutralised, while other members of the gang reportedly escaped with varying degrees of injuries.
Police authorities disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, while security has been intensified across the affected communities to prevent further criminal activities.
The rescued students were taken to a medical facility for examination before being reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism, courage and swift response, reaffirming the command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and provide timely information that could assist security agencies in identifying criminal hideouts and preventing future attacks.
