Senator Yayi To Complete Construction of Saraki-Adigbe, Magbon-INEC Roads In Abeokuta

ABEOKUTA — Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, on Saturday assured residents of Abeokuta, Ogun Central Senatorial District that the Saraki-Adigbe and Magbon-INEC roads would be completed within the next one to two weeks, as part of his ongoing commitment to infrastructure development across Ogun State.
The senator gave the assurance during a rousing homecoming reception hosted by the people of Kemta Kingdom and led by the Oluwo of Kemta, High Chief Rotimi Abayomi.
The event drew traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents who turned out in large numbers to welcome him.
Speaking at the occasion, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, represented by the Aro of Egbaland and Oluwo of Ijemo, Chief Yinka Kufile, offered prayers for Senator Adeola and expressed confidence that Ogun State would witness significant development under his leadership.
According to the monarch, while it is impossible to satisfy every individual aspiration, the provision of social amenities and infrastructure would ultimately benefit all residents.
“He cannot satisfy us all as individuals, but if he provides social amenities, everyone will enjoy the benefits,” the Alake’s representative stated.
Senator Adeola used the occasion to announce that the Saraki-Adigbe and Magbon-INEC roads would be asphalted within the next one to two weeks, describing the projects as part of his ongoing commitment to infrastructure development.
“I have set a standard for myself, either consciously or unconsciously, and I can only improve on that standard to make the people of Ogun State happy with me,” he said.
The senator, who traced his maternal roots to Egbaland, emphasized his deep connection with the community.
“Abibat Olasumbo Akinola is my mother. Kabiyesi, I am your son. My mother is from Egbaland. What happened here today is remarkable because the entire Kemta Kingdom gave me a heroic welcome back home, and it is symbolic,” he said.
“I will never underrate my motherland.”
Senator Adeola clarified that his visit to the palace was not a political campaign but a homecoming.
“I have not come to Kabiyesi to campaign; I am here simply to say that I am back home. I am a full-blooded Egba man. I have lived in Egbaland for over 20 years and have continued to do great things in Egbaland,” he declared.
The lawmaker highlighted numerous projects executed under his leadership, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads, schools, markets, and public infrastructure across Ogun State. He listed the rehabilitation of the Kobape-Ojere Oba Road, the construction and asphalting of Ikorita Road, Ogun Radio Road, Ashi Village Road, Oteyi Road in Papalanto, Obada Central Community Road, Ori-Yanrin and Agbeloba roads, Unity Road in Ibafo, as well as several educational projects.
According to him, over 16 roads and more than 15 schools are currently under construction, while projects such as classroom blocks at Premier Grammar School, Lafenwa; Baptist Boys High School; Lisabi Grammar School; Ibafo Community Grammar School; and an ultra-modern market in Ibafo have either been completed or are ongoing.
In a statement that drew loud applause from the audience, Senator Adeola declared his ambition to return to the palace as the Governor of Ogun State.
“I am coming back to this palace as the Governor of Ogun State,” he said.
He described the massive turnout by residents as a sign of greater things to come for Egbaland.
“This is the beginning of good things in Egbaland, and I will continue to do good things in Egbaland,” he assured.
The senator also unveiled his vision for the transformation of Kemta, promising to elevate the community’s status through strategic development initiatives.
“We are going to join hands to transform Kemta. I will turn Kemta into ‘Small London.’ We will ensure that all the necessary and meaningful development that has been promised and initiated will return to Kemta and benefit the people of Kemta. I want to assure you that this is only the beginning. Kemta will continue to remain strong, and I will continue to lead the way,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude to the people for the grand reception accorded him, Senator Adeola described the event as a call to greater service and pledged to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration under Governor Dapo Abiodun.
“Today, the people of Kemta-Odutolu in Egbaland have come out to declare the direction they are going. I do not take this for granted; I take it as a call to service. I am committed to development, and development will reach every part of Ogun State. We will consolidate on the gains of the current administration and take Ogun State to the next level under my leadership,” he said.
