Security Breakthrough in Kwara as Police Capture Terror Gang Leader, Four Suspected Operatives
The Kwara State Police Command has recorded a major security breakthrough with the arrest of a suspected terrorist gang leader and four other members of his network during a coordinated intelligence-led operation aimed at tackling violent crimes in the state.
According to security authorities, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence linking the suspects to a series of criminal activities, including terrorism-related offences, kidnappings, armed attacks, and other security threats within Kwara and neighbouring communities. The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle criminal networks operating across the North-Central region.
Police sources disclosed that the gang leader was apprehended alongside four suspected accomplices after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering. Security operatives also recovered weapons and other incriminating items believed to have been used in the group’s operations.
The command noted that preliminary investigations have provided useful leads regarding the activities of the syndicate and its connections to other criminal elements operating within and outside the state. Investigators are currently expanding the operation to identify additional suspects and collaborators.
