The family of Mrs Oluwafunmilayo Oyenike Elizabeth Usman (née Ojediran) has announced her passing, throwing relatives, friends, and loved ones into deep mourning.
The late matriarch, who was born in Kano State and widely respected for her peaceful and caring nature, reportedly passed away on May 10, 2026, under circumstances that left family members in total shock.
According to a close family source, Mrs Usman was hale and healthy before her sudden death, with no record of prolonged illness prior to her passing.
Her daughter, UK-based Hajia Fauziat Kemi Usman, while expressing grief over the painful loss, disclosed that she had spoken with her mother just a day before her demise.
According to her, the late grandmother prayed for her during the conversation, never knowing it would become their final moment together.
She revealed that the shocking news of her mother’s death was broken to her the following day through a phone call, adding that she initially found it difficult to believe.
Hajia Fauziat said the reality of the tragic development only dawned on her after family members conducted a video call from the mortuary to confirm the heartbreaking incident.
“She prayed for me the previous day. I never knew that would be the last prayer from my mother,” she reportedly said while still battling emotional shock over the painful loss.
The deceased is survived by children, grandchildren, and extended family members who described her as a devoted mother, grandmother, and community figure whose legacy of love and care will never be forgotten.
Meanwhile, the family has announced that the wake-keep and burial arrangements for the late Mrs Oluwafunmilayo Oyenike Elizabeth Usman will take place on June 1 and June 2, 2026, at her residence in Ilepa, Ogun State.
