2027: Fubara, Wike Allies Dismiss Governorship Ambitions, Reaffirm Loyalty
Two prominent political figures in Rivers State have dismissed speculations linking them to the 2027 governorship race, reaffirming their loyalty to current leadership in the state.
Edison Ehie, a former Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, denied claims that he is nursing governorship ambitions. He was reacting to a viral campaign poster that portrayed him as a deputy governorship candidate alongside Dakuku Peterside under a different political platform.
Ehie described the poster as false and misleading, stating that it was a deliberate attempt to create confusion within the state’s political landscape. He reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Fubara and urged the public to disregard the speculation.
Similarly, Boma Iyaye, a close ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, also denied rumours suggesting he plans to contest the 2027 governorship election.
Iyaye clarified that he has neither declared any ambition nor received endorsement from any political figure. He emphasized that his focus remains on his role at the Niger Delta Development Commission, where he serves as Executive Director for Finance and Administration.
He further urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading unconfirmed political claims.
The development comes amid ongoing political realignments in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections, with both figures stressing that loyalty, stability, and service remain their priorities over personal ambition.
