Nigeria, UK Partner on $496m Mega Dairy Project to Boost Food Security

The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority has entered into a major partnership with UK-based Asset Green Ltd to develop a $496 million integrated dairy production and processing project aimed at transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The agreement, signed in London, outlines plans for a large-scale dairy platform designed to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported dairy products while strengthening local production and enhancing food security.
The project will span about 20,000 hectares of climate-smart crop and forage production, alongside a modern dairy farm housing 10,000 milking cows. It will also include a processing facility capable of producing milk, butter, cream, milk powder, and infant formula.
Once fully operational, the initiative is expected to generate significant annual revenue and create thousands of jobs, both directly and indirectly. It will also involve rural households through out-grower schemes, integrating them into the dairy value chain and boosting local participation in agriculture.
The deal has been described as a major step toward modernising Nigeria’s dairy industry, improving nutrition, and positioning the country for stronger agricultural growth and long-term sustainability.
