Ondo Government Set to Sign Strategic Partnership with New Jersey Officials

The Ondo State Government has announced plans to enter into a partnership agreement with officials from the U.S. state of New Jersey aimed at strengthening economic, educational, and cultural ties between the two regions.
The proposed collaboration will formalise cooperation in key areas including trade, investment promotion, workforce development, and technology exchange. It is expected to open new avenues for business opportunities between Ondo State and partners in New Jersey.
State officials said the agreement will prioritise initiatives that support small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs), enhance technology transfer, and expand access to technical and vocational training for youth and professionals in Ondo. By leveraging New Jersey’s expertise in innovation and industrial development, the partnership seeks to boost economic growth and job creation within the state.
The planned deal also includes provisions for knowledge sharing in areas such as infrastructure development, education, and healthcare services. Both sides hope the collaboration will foster people‑to‑people exchanges, strengthen institutional capacity, and create platforms for future investment.
The Ondo State Government noted that the partnership comes at a time when efforts to attract foreign direct investment and strengthen international cooperation are key priorities of its economic development agenda.
Officials from both Ondo State and New Jersey are expected to finalise the terms of the agreement in upcoming meetings, after which a formal signing ceremony will be held.
The partnership is being viewed as part of a broader push by sub‑national governments to build global networks that can support local development and enhance competitiveness in an increasingly interconnected world.
