Seven Dead in Tragic Multiple Vehicle Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Tragedy struck early on Saturday morning as seven persons lost their lives in a multiple vehicle crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with four others left injured. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a statement issued by the Ogun State sector command.
According to the statement from Florence Okupe, the Route Commander and Chief Public Education Officer, the crash involved 15 people, including 13 male adults and two females. Out of these, seven people – six males and one female – were confirmed dead, while four others – three male adults and one female – sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Cause of the Crash
The FRSC attributed the fatal crash to excessive speeding by a Mack truck, which reportedly lost control and collided with two other vehicles. This resulted in the tragic loss of lives and injuries to several others.
Medical Response and Victim Care
The injured victims were promptly taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
Traffic Management and Investigation
The vehicles involved in the crash were immediately towed off the road to restore the free flow of traffic. Sector Commander Fasakin Akinwumi visited the crash site for further investigation and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He also advised the families to reach out to the FRSC office in Ibafo for more information on the incident.
This tragic accident highlights the dangers of excessive speeding, and the FRSC continues to urge all road users to prioritize safety while driving.
