Attack on INEC Office in Ogun, attack on our Democracy – Ogun OGHA Candidate, O’kenny


The People’s Democratic Party, PDP House of Assembly candidate for Odeda State Constituency, Hon Odewunmi Kehinde Hassan has described the attack on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Office, in Abeokuta as an unfortunate occurrence and attack on the Nation’s Democracy.
Hon Odewunmi in a Statement released by his Media office said the Police Command, in conjunction with INEC management muzt launch an investigation into the cause of the attack and put perpetrators to justice.
The House of Assembly hopeful said it was regrettable that the incident happened close to the activities commencing the 2023 general elections in the state.
“The latest destruction of the Commission’s physical infrastructure and electoral facilities in across the country called for an immediate review of the measures necessary to secure INEC’s assets across the country because it is clearly shown that Nigeria’s Democracy is under threat from unpatriotic people” the statement reads.
Some suspected hoodlums, in the early hours of Thursday, burnt an office of the Independent National Electoral Commission at Iyana Mortuary lll in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital .
Our correspondent gathered that the hoodlums, numbering about eight reportedly scaled the perimeter fence, jumped into the premises and set the INEC building on fire from the back.
It was gathered that the hoodlums after invading the premises, soaked loaves of bread with petrol and threw same into the building at different angles to light up the INEC office.
