APC Picks Adeola as Ogun Consensus Candidate, Lagos Leaders Close Ranks for Hamzat
Adeola, widely known as Yayi, was adopted by party leaders during a high-level caucus meeting in Abeokuta after extensive consultations among stakeholders. The decision reflects a broader agreement within the party to allow Ogun West Senatorial District produce the next governor.
The consensus arrangement gained further strength as other aspirants from the zone stepped down in support of Adeola, signaling a push for unity and cohesion within the party. Governor Dapo Abiodun and other leaders described the move as strategic, aimed at maintaining stability and continuity in governance.
In his acceptance, Adeola assured party members and residents of Ogun State of his commitment to delivering effective leadership, promising to build on existing achievements and promote inclusive development.
At the same time in Lagos, APC stakeholders have intensified efforts to position Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as a strong contender for the governorship. Party leaders across different blocs have begun consultations and mobilization, seeking to consolidate support ahead of the primaries.
Hamzat has continued to engage key stakeholders within the party, emphasizing unity and a collective vision for the future of Lagos State. Supporters point to his experience in governance and long-standing involvement in Lagos politics as major strengths.
These developments in both Ogun and Lagos reflect the APC’s early strategy to strengthen internal unity and prepare for the next electoral cycle, with consensus-building and strategic alignment shaping the party’s direction.
