2027 Lagos Governorship: Laja Adeoye Criticises APC Endorsements, Calls for Political Renewal

2027 Lagos Governorship: Laja Adeoye Criticises APC Endorsements, Calls for Political Renewal
A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Laja Adeoye, has reacted to recent endorsements within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing them as internal political arrangements rather than a reflection of governance performance.
Adeoye made this known in a statement while responding to the endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other APC stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
He argued that such endorsements highlight early political alignment within the ruling party but fail to address the pressing needs of Lagos residents.
The PDP aspirant called for a shift in focus from political endorsements to governance priorities, stressing the need for accountability, improved service delivery, and better living conditions for citizens.
Adeoye identified key challenges confronting the state, including traffic congestion, flooding, housing shortages, gaps in healthcare, and the rising cost of living. He urged leaders to prioritise practical solutions over political maneuvering.
He further emphasized that the 2027 elections should be driven by ideas, policies, and measurable impact rather than internal party arrangements, noting that Lagosians expect more responsive and inclusive governance.
Adeoye reiterated his commitment to offering a fresh political direction anchored on transparency, infrastructure development, and social welfare reforms.
The development signals an early build-up to the 2027 governorship race in Lagos, with opposition voices increasingly challenging the dominance of the APC and calling for a new political direction in the state.
