Terror in Bauchi: Four Abducted, Shops Looted in Midnight Raid on Gyale Village
Four persons have been abducted and several shops looted during a violent attack on Gyale village in Mansur District of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
The incident, which took place around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night, was confirmed by the Bauchi State Police Command through its spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ahmed Mohammed Wakil.
According to CSP Wakil, the attackers infiltrated the village through the Yankari Game Reserve, looting five shops before abducting four individuals. The victims have been identified as 32-year-old Tasiu Malam Yahaya, 15-year-old Hakilu Ubayo, 28-year-old Abdul Aziz Suleiman, and 16-year-old Rabiu Ganjua—all of whom either own or work in the affected shops.
“The victims were taken to an unknown destination, and our search efforts are ongoing,” Wakil stated.
In response to the incident, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori-Aliyu, ordered the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Alkaleri to immediately mobilize a joint task force of police officers, local vigilantes, and hunters to comb the surrounding forests and track down the abductors.
Wakil noted that although the area has returned to calm, security personnel remain on high alert and are intensifying operations to locate the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We are hopeful of making arrests soon. The Command is also reinforcing proactive measures to prevent future attacks and ensure the safety of residents,” he added.
The attack is the latest in a string of kidnappings and criminal activities that have raised concerns over security in rural communities across Bauchi State.
