Former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, on Monday evening, narrowly escaped death by the whiskers when he was viciously attacked by gunmen who bombed his convoy at Oriagu downtown of Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
Although Ohakim survived the attack, four of his police orderlies were not that lucky as they were brutally killed by the invading gunmen.
According to eye witnesses, the gunmen attacked his convoy by throwing explosives at it following their inability to capture him (Ohakim).
It happened that Ohakim’s backup vehicle was bombed, which resulted in the death of the four security details, competent sources said.
As at the time filing this report on Monday night, efforts to get the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, speak on the matter was futile.
