President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Attahiru Jega, following the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.
The condolence message was conveyed during the Janazah (funeral prayer) held at the National Mosque Abuja, where Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the President.
In an official statement, Tinubu described the late Hadiza Jega as a woman of “uncommon grace and character,” noting that she was a strong pillar of support to her husband throughout his years of public service, including his tenure as INEC chairman.
The President also acknowledged her contributions to education and community development, highlighting her quiet but impactful role in society.
Expressing deep sympathy, Tinubu said he received the news of her passing with a heavy heart, describing her as an exceptional woman who stood by her husband for over four decades.
He prayed for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, while also giving strength and comfort to Professor Jega and his family during this difficult time.
