Subsidy : NATCOM DG Calls for Support for President Tinubu’s Administration

........ Says his policies are tailored towards the birth of a new Nigeria..........

As Nigerians continue to grasps with the realities associated with the decision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to finally remove subsidy payment on fuel culminating to increase in the price of the product, the Acting Director General of the National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunition, Light Weapons, Chemical Weapons, and Pipeline Vandalism (NATCOM), Amb. Otunba Adejare Rewane Adegbenro has called on Nigerians to rally round and support his administration in the interest of National Development.

Speaking on the debate that has greeted the subsidy removal, the Director General of NATCOM opined that with the development, the federal government has taken a drastic step geared towards removing impediments in the country’s petroleum supply chain first , to alleviate the suffering of the mases, although comes with sacrifices but will benefit all in the future.

He said, “For this year, 2023, Nigeria budgeted N11 trillion of its oil revenue on subsidizing petroleum  alone. This cannot continue. This is a lot of good money going down the drain, with little or nothing to show for it.

“This huge amount can be channelled into solving our several deficits, including, infrastructures, housing, education, healthcare and generally upgrading the quality of life for Nigerians and will also help strengthen the naira against other world trading currencies”.

The security expert noted that Nigerians should recognize that subsidy removal will ensure the ready availability of petrol at all times as Nigeria will be saturated with petrol and there will be no diversion by marketers, It will also curb the greed for higher profits and sabotage by a few players in the oil industry which will positively affect the economy.

While appreciating the various developmental steps taken by President Tinubu since inauguration, Amb. Adejare Adegbenro called for more support from Nigerians towards his administration adding that President Tinubu, has the capacity to turn Nigeria into the economic and agricultural hub of Africa.

He also promised that NATCOM under his watch will leave no stone unturned until Nigeria is rid off of illegal firearms and as well take a front stage in the fight against insecurity with recruitment of not less than 7000 personnel in each States of the Federation.
