Sagamu Cult Killings: Police confirms arrest of more suspected notorious cultists
The Ogun state police command said it has apprehended more suspects in connection with the recent cult related clashes and killings in the Sagamu area of the state.
The cult clashes which resulted in the death of at least eight people involved rival groups of the Eiye and Aiye confraternity.
Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Omolola Odutola in a statement said, a successful tactical operation carried out by the Command led to the arrest of one Ogunnibi Hammed, the alleged kingpin of the Eiye Confraternity.
“Acting on intercepted information, the operation targeted the suspected cultists who had been causing terror in various areas including Odogbolu, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Ilishan,” the Police PRO said. .
Among those apprehended were Sodipo Azeez, also known as Bintobo, Ilori Gbenga, Lamina Yusuf, Kolawole Rasaq, Adelaja Otusanya, Adeyemi Soneye, and Oseni Toheeb.
Others are Thank God Naba, Lekan Qudus, Adelusi Omotayo, Timothy Monday AYOMIDE Ishmael, Oboje Jeremiah, Ayoola Oladayo, Jacob Chidi, John Innocent, Ayangbile Victor, and Jacob Sunday.
“These notorious cultists have been widely known for their involvement in gruesome attacks against rival cult groups in Ogun State.
“All of these individuals have confessed to being active members of different cult groups.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP) is informed about the arrests and has ordered an immediate investigation into the individuals apprehended. As the investigation progresses, the police will provide updates to the public regarding any relevant developments in this case.
