Ondo APC Crisis Deepens as Disqualified Aspirant Alleges Breach of Party Rules
The internal crisis within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified after a disqualified aspirant challenged the outcome of the party’s screening process, alleging violations of the party’s constitution and established guidelines.
The aggrieved aspirant contended that the screening exercise was not conducted in accordance with the APC’s rules and regulations, insisting that due process was not followed before the decision to disqualify him was reached. He maintained that the development undermines internal democracy and called on the party leadership to review the process in the interest of fairness and justice.
According to the aspirant, the alleged procedural breaches could create unnecessary divisions within the party if left unresolved. He urged the national leadership of the APC to intervene and ensure that all aspirants are treated equally in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
The dispute comes as the APC continues preparations for its forthcoming internal elections in Ondo State, with party stakeholders expressing concern that unresolved grievances could affect unity and cohesion ahead of future electoral contests.
Political observers believe the party leadership will need to address the complaints transparently to preserve confidence in its internal democratic processes and prevent further escalation of the crisis.
Despite the disagreement, party leaders have repeatedly appealed to members to remain calm, respect internal dispute resolution mechanisms and work collectively to strengthen the APC ahead of upcoming political activities in the state.
