OGUN GOVT KEEPS PLEDGE, PAYS ANOTHER N500M GRATUITY TO PENSIONERS

In fulfilment of the promise made by the Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to pay at least 500 million Naira quarterly out of the outstanding gratuities owed by the previous administration since 2011, he has again redeemed the pledge by making the Q1 2022 payment of N500m, thereby making a total of N2.5bn paid since March 2021.
Governor Abiodun had in 2019 when he came to power promised to cater for the senior citizens who served the State diligently, said it is important to see to their welfare and wellbeing.
The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of State Pensions, Mr. Olukunle Sodeinde made this known in his office at Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta, stating that the present Administration would continue to honour and respect senior citizens.
He appreciated the Governor for keeping to his promise that N500m would be released every quarter of the year, urging pensioners that had yet to get theirs to be patient with the present Administration.
Speaking to Nigeria Standard, some of the pensioners praised the Governor for paying their pensions and giving them support, while appealing to him to increase their gratuity as the economy improves.
