Ogun: Crisis Looms As Council Chairman, Tunde Diya’s Legislators Boycott Swearing-in Ceremony

A mild drama unfolded at the Odogbolu local government council as majority of legislators in the council boycotted the swearing-in ceremony of special advisers, while the induction of newly selected supervisors was put on hold.
The crisis began when Chairman of the council, Dr. Tunde Diya disregarded established procedures by refusing to present the list of supervisors to the legislative arm for screening.
Despite interventions from APC leaders, career officers, and some community councillors, Dr. Diya proceeded with the swearing-in ceremony alone.
Some of those who boycotted the ceremony included the Party Chairman, Hon Muyiwa Idowu, the South West women leader, Hon Yetunde Adesanya and the House of Reps member, Hon Femi Ogunbanwo among others.
The boycott by 12 legislators, leaving only two in attendance, sent a clear message that all was not well within the council.
The incident has sparked concerns about the potential for a deeper crisis within the Odogbolu LG council.
