Nigerian Troops Repel ISWAP Attack, Rescue Civilians in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully repelled an attempted attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Logomani community in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, rescuing several civilians during the military operation.
The military said the terrorists launched the attack in a bid to overrun the community, but security forces responded swiftly, engaging the insurgents in a fierce gun battle that forced them to retreat.
During the operation, troops rescued civilians who had been held by the terrorists and recovered weapons and other items abandoned by the fleeing insurgents. The military also confirmed that one soldier lost his life during the encounter, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing terrorists.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups across the North-East, stressing that troops remain determined to deny insurgents freedom of movement and restore lasting peace to affected communities.
Residents have been urged to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence to strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism operations, as the military intensifies efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating across Borno State and the wider North-East.
