Kwam 1 Speaks On Killington Not Attending His Mother’s Burial
Wasiu Ayinde, known as Kwam1, a prominent figure in the Nigerian Fuji music scene, has openly expressed his disappointment with his mentor and senior colleague, Ayinla Kollington.
This stems from an expectation of reciprocal support which Kwam1 feels was unmet following the death of his mother on January 18, 2025. Despite his mother having been laid to rest the same day, Kwam1 felt the absence of condolence from Kollington, whom he had greatly supported during a similar bereavement.
In a candid interview on Agbaletu Radio with OAP Bamidele Adeyanju, Kwam1 detailed his contributions at Kollington’s mother’s funeral, noting his efforts in bringing esteemed guests such as governors, and handling all financial aspects. This lack of reciprocity left Kwam1 feeling hurt and frustrated, particularly since Kollington, who was in Nigeria at the time, only offered a belated excuse that he could not reach Kwam1 over the phone. Kwam1’s disappointment reflects his belief in the importance of mutual support during times of grief, and his hurt is palpable as he grapples with the perceived lack of acknowledgment from a long-time mentor.
