Group tasks Governor Abiodun to Checkmate activities of Iyeru over his Violent tendencies in Ogun NURTW
The attention of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has been called to the nefarious activities of some unscrupulous individuals parading themselves as the executives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Ogun State Council.
The Individuals led by Mr. Akeem Bodunrin a.k.a IYERU was alleged to have started re-grouping his men for another show of forceful to take over of the Union secretariat, located at Asero in Abeokuta and also inciting people against the State Government, an action that may cause possible breakdown of law and order in the State.
The call to action plea was directed to the State government by concerned citizens of the State to avert crisis that may ground the good work of Prince Dapo Abiodun led government.
It would be recalled that the Ogun State House of Assembly, last week during a plenary passed a resolution directing the State Govt to lift ban earlier imposed on all union activities of the state chapter of the NURTW in the State, a move that has been commended by all.
According the resolution, “the lift of the ban became imperative following the peaceful conduct of the Union members likewise their understanding of the rule of law in the promotion of peaceful atmosphere and societal orderliness.
The statement reads “Pending the State government directive on the resolution, all party involved are expected to conduct themselves within the ambience of the law but to our dismayed, some group of people have started parading and claiming they have been nominated, they even went too far by trying to forcefully gain access to NURTW secretariat at Asero but for the intervention of the security agencies that quickly wade in, in the process of dispersing the group, three commercial taxi were vandalized while properties of private residents in the area were destroyed”.
Describing Mr Iyeru’s actions as another bad show of shame that may lead to breach of peace in the State, the group condemned his act, lackadaisical attitude in totality, he has again trying to cause confusion in the town and also trying arm twisting Goverment resolution passed in good faith.
