Adamawa : IGP withdraws Police Commissioner
The Inspector General of Police (IGP),Usman Baba has recalled Mohammed Barde, the Commissioner of Police on Election Duty in Adamawa State.
He has been replaced by Etim Equa, the Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, to take charge of the remaining election duties in Adamawa State.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed this development.
Adejobi, while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, said the development was an indication that that IGP was committed to a free and fair electioneering process.
“The IGP has given directive that the commissioner of police on election security in Adamawa State, CP Barde should pull out of Adamawa State and the Commissioner of Police in charge of Gombe State, CP Etim Equa to proceed to Adamawa immediately, to go and supervise election and provide necessary information and ensure that the process is a success.”
Adejobi said the IGP had not received any letter from INEC to probe activities of the former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa, Hudu Yunusa Ari.
