Osun 2026: Renewed Hope Ambassadors Storm Osogbo for Oyebamiji, Massive Crowd Takes Over Major Roads
The political atmosphere in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, came alive on Wednesday as members and supporters of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors staged a massive awareness walk to mobilise voters for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The mobilisation, tagged “Walk to Victory,” saw hundreds of members of the organisation converge on the popular Aiyetoro area before embarking on a procession through strategic parts of Osogbo, including Igbona Market, Old Garage, MDS, Olaiya and Ogo-Oluwa, before terminating at the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Office.
The procession attracted considerable attention along the routes as supporters marched through the state capital displaying their support for Oyebamiji and canvassing votes for the APC.
The large gathering affected movement along sections of the routes as the procession made its way through the city, turning the exercise into one of the notable grassroots mobilisation activities in the closing days of the campaign.
Beyond the road walk, members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors used the exercise to reach out directly to residents, traders, motorists, youths and other potential voters, urging them to support Oyebamiji at the poll.
The Osun State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Sunday Akere, said the mobilisation was organised to demonstrate the organisation’s commitment to Oyebamiji’s candidacy and sensitise the electorate on what the group described as the need for political change in Osun State.
Akere disclosed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors had developed a political structure comprising more than 95,000 members across Osun State, expressing confidence that the organisation’s grassroots network would play a significant role in mobilising voters for the APC candidate.
He maintained that the turnout at the awareness walk demonstrated that the campaign for Oyebamiji was being driven by grassroots mobilisation rather than dependence on the influence of the Federal Government.
According to the coordinator, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have been engaging residents and spreading the message of the APC candidate across communities, with the ultimate objective of translating the group’s statewide structure into votes on election day.
The Osogbo rally also witnessed strong participation by women, with Dr Romoke Abiola saying women across the state’s 30 local government areas and the area office would mobilise for Oyebamiji. She described the APC candidate as productive and resourceful and urged women to support his candidacy.
The organisation’s Director of Security in Osun State, Amos Adekunle Victor, meanwhile called for a peaceful and violence-free election, encouraging residents to come out and exercise their franchise without fear. He expressed confidence that adequate security would be available and that voters would be able to participate peacefully.
For the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the Osogbo walk represented more than a political procession. It was designed as a final major awareness drive to take the Oyebamiji campaign directly to the people and demonstrate the strength of the organisation’s grassroots mobilisation network ahead of Saturday’s election.
With only days remaining before voters decide who governs Osun State, the massive mobilisation in Osogbo has further intensified political activities around Oyebamiji as the APC and its support groups make a final push to persuade undecided voters and consolidate support across the state.
