FG Seeks Ondo, Ogun Backing for Dangote Industrial City and Deep Seaport Project
The Federal Government has called on stakeholders and host communities in Ondo and Ogun states to support the planned Dangote Industrial City and Deep Seaport project, describing it as a strategic investment that will boost industrialisation, expand trade, and create thousands of employment opportunities.
The appeal was made during a stakeholders’ engagement on the proposed development within the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ), where government officials stressed the importance of collaboration among investors, state governments, and local communities to ensure the successful execution of the project.
According to the Federal Government, the industrial city and deep seaport are expected to transform the Olokola axis into a major manufacturing, logistics, and maritime hub, attracting local and foreign investments while strengthening Nigeria’s export capacity and economic competitiveness.
Officials noted that the project would stimulate economic activities through improved infrastructure, industrial expansion, increased business opportunities, and job creation for residents of the host communities and neighbouring states.
Community leaders welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed their willingness to cooperate with the government and project developers. They, however, urged authorities to prioritise local employment, environmental sustainability, infrastructure development, and corporate social responsibility to ensure host communities benefit directly from the investment.
The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to working closely with the governments of Ondo and Ogun states, as well as all relevant stakeholders, to ensure the successful delivery of the project, which is expected to position Nigeria as one of Africa’s leading industrial and maritime investment destinations.
