Dangote Refinery Exports N757bn Worth of Jet Fuel to Europe, Surpasses U.S. Supply
Nigeria’s Dangote Petroleum Refinery has strengthened its position in the global energy market after exporting an estimated 466,000 metric tonnes of jet fuel to Europe in June 2026, with the shipment valued at approximately N757 billion. The volume surpassed jet fuel exports from the United States to Europe during the same period.
Industry data showed that Nigeria’s jet fuel exports to Europe rose sharply from 232,000 metric tonnes in May to 466,000 metric tonnes in June, marking the country’s highest monthly aviation fuel exports since becoming a net exporter of jet fuel in 2024.
The surge comes as European buyers continue seeking alternative sources of aviation fuel amid changing global supply patterns and disruptions to traditional supply routes. Analysts say the Dangote refinery has emerged as a key supplier, helping to meet Europe’s growing demand for refined petroleum products.
During the same period, jet fuel exports from the United States to Europe declined significantly, allowing Nigeria to become one of the continent’s leading suppliers of aviation fuel. Market observers attributed the shift to increased production from the Dangote refinery and changing global trade flows.
Energy experts believe the refinery’s growing export capacity underscores Nigeria’s transition from a major importer of refined petroleum products to a significant exporter, strengthening the country’s foreign exchange earnings and its influence in the international energy market.
