Armed Robbers Kill Father of Five During Midnight Attack in Ondo Community
A 47-year-old refrigeration and air-conditioning technician, Idris Abiodun Clement, has been killed during a violent robbery attack at his residence in the Shagari area of Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday when a gang of armed robbers reportedly stormed the neighbourhood, breaking into several homes and carting away valuables before invading Clement’s family compound.
According to family members, the father of five confronted one of the assailants in an attempt to protect his household, unaware that the gang was heavily armed. He was allegedly attacked with axes and cutlasses before one of the robbers shot him. Although he was rushed to a hospital, doctors later confirmed him dead due to severe injuries and blood loss.
The deceased’s family described the incident as a tragic loss and appealed to the Ondo State Government and security agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to justice. Friends and neighbours also remembered Clement as a hardworking and generous man who was widely respected in the community.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident and disclosed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the robbery and killing. Police spokesperson DSP Jimoh Abayomi said the suspect is in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) and is assisting investigators as efforts continue to apprehend other members of the gang.
