Oriire Kidnappers Under Pressure as Security Agencies Intensify Rescue Operations
Security agencies have intensified operations against the kidnappers responsible for the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, with authorities indicating that significant progress has been made in tracking the criminal network behind the attack.
The multi-agency operation, involving the military, police, intelligence services, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilante groups, has reportedly narrowed the movement of the abductors within forest corridors believed to be serving as their hideouts. Security sources said sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering have placed the kidnappers under increasing pressure.
The victims were abducted during a coordinated attack on schools and communities in Oriire, an incident that sparked outrage across Oyo State and renewed concerns about insecurity in rural communities. The attack claimed lives and left several families traumatised as efforts to secure the release of the captives continued.
Governor Seyi Makinde has repeatedly assured residents that the state government remains committed to rescuing all victims safely. He disclosed that security agencies are working round the clock and expressed confidence that ongoing operations would soon yield positive results.
In support of the rescue mission, the Federal Government recently strengthened security measures in the affected area, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved additional security interventions, including the recruitment of forest guards to improve surveillance around vulnerable communities and forest reserves.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly has called for intensified rescue operations and rejected suggestions that authorities should negotiate with the kidnappers. Lawmakers insisted that security agencies should sustain the manhunt and bring all perpetrators to justice.
Community leaders and residents have continued to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information to aid rescue efforts. Traditional rulers and local stakeholders have also appealed for calm while operations continue.
With security operatives tightening the net around the suspects, hopes are rising that the abducted students and teachers will soon regain their freedom as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle the criminal network responsible for the attack.
