Gbenga Daniel Slams Governor Abiodun Over Alleged Loss of Dangote Refinery, Infrastructure Decay in Ogun
Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has slammed Governor Dapo Abiodun, accusing his administration of mismanagement and alleged failure that reportedly led to the loss of the Dangote Refinery project for Ogun State.
Daniel made the remarks during a political engagement in Ijebu Ode, where he reviewed governance performance in Ogun East ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
He alleged that despite increased federal allocations to Ogun State, there has been little visible developmental impact in key communities across Ijebu land.
According to him, the state missed a major economic opportunity when the Dangote Refinery project did not materialize in Ogun, describing it as a historic setback for industrial growth in the state.
The former governor also criticized the handling of infrastructure and federal projects he facilitated during his time in office and later as a senator, claiming that several key sectors have suffered neglect.
He further pointed to the condition of schools, healthcare facilities, and road infrastructure in parts of Ogun East, arguing that development has not matched the level of resources available to the state.
Daniel also referenced ongoing political tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting that internal disagreements have affected governance delivery in the state.
In response, aides to Governor Abiodun dismissed the allegations, insisting they are politically motivated and do not reflect the reality of ongoing infrastructure projects across Ogun State. They maintained that the administration remains committed to balanced development across all senatorial districts.
The exchange comes amid rising political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with both figures expected to remain central players in Ogun State’s political landscape.
