May Day 2026: Aiyedatiwa, Tinubu Commended as Ilaje CCT Beneficiaries Share Impact Stories on Workers’ Day Celebration

The disbursement of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) cards and payments in Ilaje Local Government Area has taken on a dual significance as it coincided with the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, drawing praise for both the Federal and Ondo State Governments for their commitment to grassroots empowerment and labour welfare.
Beneficiaries of the programme shared inspiring testimonies of hope, resilience, and economic renewal, as they received financial support aimed at improving livelihoods and reducing poverty across communities.
Speaking during the exercise, the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola, described the initiative as a strong reflection of people-centered governance, especially significant as workers across the country mark May Day.
She commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to inclusive governance and social welfare, noting that the timing of the CCT disbursement during Workers’ Day underscores the administration’s recognition of labour, dignity, and productivity.
According to her, “This Workers’ Day is not just a celebration of labour, but a reminder that government policies must continue to translate into real-life impact for the people. What we witnessed in Ilaje is proof that governance is touching lives directly.”
She also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, which she said continues to prioritize social investment programmes that support vulnerable Nigerians and promote economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
During interactions with beneficiaries, Ikuomola highlighted emotional stories from residents, including an elderly trader who expressed gratitude for renewed financial stability, a young fisherman planning to expand his business, and a local blacksmith determined to invest in better tools to improve productivity.
She added that the programme goes beyond financial distribution, serving as a bridge between government policies and the everyday realities of citizens, especially workers and small-scale entrepreneurs who form the backbone of the economy.
“As we celebrate Workers’ Day, we must recognize that every artisan, farmer, trader, and civil servant contributes to the strength of our society. This programme reflects our shared commitment to dignity of labour and inclusive development,” she added.
The initiative, widely praised by beneficiaries, reinforces the importance of sustained social investment in reducing poverty, empowering communities, and strengthening the bond between government and the people.
