Aiyedatiwa Appoints Lawson Olorunwa Acting Rector of RUGIPO Owo
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the appointment of Engr. (Dr.) Lawson Olorunwa Sunday as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
The appointment takes effect from April 25, 2026, and follows the retirement of the former rector, Dr. Simeon Olorunwa Adegun, who exited office on April 24, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Olorunwa will oversee the administration of the institution in an acting capacity pending further decisions.
Before his appointment, Olorunwa served as Deputy Rector of the polytechnic and is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology.
He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology and has over 25 years of experience in the polytechnic system.
Throughout his career, he has occupied several key administrative roles, including Director of Works and Head of Department, demonstrating extensive leadership experience within the institution.
A native of Ajagba in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, Olorunwa is expected to provide leadership and continuity at the institution during this transition period.
Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is a state-owned tertiary institution established to provide technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
