Yusuf Confronts Kwankwaso, Declares Kano Firmly in APC’s Grip Ahead of 2027
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has escalated political tensions in Kano State, openly challenging his former ally, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, while insisting that the state remains under the strong control of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor dismissed opposition claims that his administration would be short-lived, describing such assertions as baseless political propaganda aimed at misleading the public.
Yusuf maintained that his government enjoys broad support among the people of Kano, expressing confidence that the APC will further strengthen its dominance in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rift between Yusuf and Kwankwaso marks a significant shift in Kano’s political landscape, especially considering their long-standing political relationship. The development has also intensified divisions within the Kwankwasiyya movement and reshaped alliances across party lines.
Supporters of Kwankwaso have criticized the governor’s stance, accusing him of turning against the political structure that once backed his rise to power.
Despite the backlash, Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to consolidating the APC’s influence in Kano, insisting that opposition parties will struggle to gain ground in future elections.
