Ogbomoso Monarch Suspends Ex-Senator Adeseun Over Alleged Disrespect to Palace
The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, has announced the indefinite suspension of former senator, Hamzat Ayoade Adeseun, from his chieftaincy position as the Mayegun of Ogbomosoland.
The decision was conveyed in an official letter dated March 23, 2026, issued from the royal palace and signed by the Palace Secretary, Toyin Ajamu.
According to the palace, the action was taken in response to what it described as the former lawmaker’s recent and ongoing conduct, which has reportedly brought concern and embarrassment to the traditional institution.
The monarch accused Adeseun of repeated acts of insubordination, deliberate disregard, and continuous disrespect toward the palace and the revered stool of the Soun.
The statement further noted that his actions, both in public and private, were inconsistent with the expectations and dignity attached to the Mayegun title and the responsibilities of a palace chief.
Expressing regret over the development, the palace emphasized that the decision was made out of a strong sense of duty to uphold the integrity, traditions, and authority of the royal institution.
As part of the directive, Adeseun has been barred from presenting himself as the Mayegun of Ogbomosoland in any form. This includes appearances at public functions, official engagements, media platforms, social media, and all forms of correspondence until further notice.
As of the time of this report, the suspended former senator has not issued any official response regarding the action taken by the palace.
