Wife Raped To Death, Husband Killed In Midnight Attack By Armed Men In Keffi LG

Angwan Kari community in Nasarawa State’s Keffi Local Government Area is in deep sorrow after Mr. Williams Wasiu Jimoh and his wife, Mrs. Banke Williams Jimoh, were killed in a vicious midnight attack. The terrible event happened early on Sunday, April 6, when unidentified armed men broke into the couple’s home, killing Mr. Jimoh and violently assaulting and killing his wife.
The couple was at home when the attackers entered their apartment in the dark, based on testimonies this reporter has compiled. According to information gleaned from community members and witnesses, the attack was not arbitrary. Suspicions that the crime may have been premeditated have been heightened by the house’s secluded location and the horrific nature of the victims’ injuries. Before fatally slashing Mrs. Jimoh’s neck, the attackers allegedly sexually assaulted her violently. After being taken to the hospital with serious injuries, her husband, Mr. Jimoh, passed away.
The Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) Keffi Zonal Coordinator, Pastor Lee Ngbede, discussed the victims with our correspondent. Here in Keffi, Brother and Sister Jimoh were devoted FCS members. The state and the entire Christian community in Keffi are still shocked by the circumstances surrounding their horrific demise,” he said. In addition to shocking the community, the couple’s deaths have devastated the local Christian fellowship, of which they were active members.
After several phone calls to the couple went unanswered, Mrs. Jimoh’s father was the one who initially sounded the alarm. Because of his worries, a family friend went to the couple’s house and was met with the horrific sight. A witness described the condition of Mrs. Jimoh’s body when it was discovered, calling it an extremely unsettling scene. According to the police, the woman was raped to death based on all available evidence. The witness’s voice was filled with emotion as he stated, “Her neck was slashed as well, and it was practically dangling.”
On Thursday, April 10, Mrs. Jimoh was buried because of the severity of the attack and the fact that her body was already decomposed when it was discovered. Due to the severity of her injuries and the way she was discovered, traditional burial customs were not feasible, so she was buried with her body wrapped in cloth. Days later, her husband, who had stayed unconscious in the hospital, died. Wednesday, April 16 has been set aside for his funeral.
The Nasarawa State Police Command is still conducting investigations and has not made any arrests as of the time of this report. The community is still demanding justice and is pleading with authorities to step up their efforts to catch the criminals responsible for the horrible crime. The tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the vulnerability of locals in remote areas and the pressing need for increased security throughout the state as mourners assemble to honor the lives of the couple who were killed.
