IWD : NTA Golden Girl, Funmi named among 100 outstanding women leaders in Nigeria
The General Manager, NTA 12 Abeokuta and Former chief press secretary to the immediate past Governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Funmi Wakama has been named among 100 outstanding women leaders in Nigeria.
She made the list of the 2022 edition of Nigeria Women Annual: 100 Leading Women.
Wakama was born in Lagos, Nigeria on 1st July, 1966 as Olufunmilayo Yetunde Coker.
She was appointed the General Manager of Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Abeokuta in 2018.
The NTA Tube Star, studied Mass Communication at the Ogun State Polytechnic, now known as Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
She has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, Lagos and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Abuja.
Funmi Wakama, is a former Senior Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary to former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun.
She was a Media Manager, Programme and Outreach, International Republican Institute (IRI), USAID Programme in Nigeria.
“The Nigeria Women Annual: 100 Leading Women” is the premier qualitative profiling of phenomenal women in Nigeria who have contributed to the development of Nigeria and the world.
It is a gender-specific biographical compendium that responds to existing gender gaps in Nigeria’s biographical documentation and leadership.
The compendium is published annually to commemorate the International Women’s Day, March 8.
Other outstanding women that made the sterling list include, Chimamanda Adichie, T. Y Bello, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, Eugenia Abu and former Minister, Aisha Abubakar.
