Hon. Otunba Ademorin Aliu Kuye stands as a distinguished figure whose life reflects a powerful blend of royal heritage, professional excellence, and dedicated public service. A Prince of the Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode, his ancestry is firmly rooted in one of the respected royal lineages of Ijebuland. He is the son of the late Alhaji Ishola Ganiyu Kuye of Gbelegbuwa Compound, Gboguja, Ijebu-Ode, and the late Princess Adetutu Idowu Kuye of the Erelu Okutuwo/Sabe of Jadiara lineage — a recognised branch of the royal family.
Born in 1963 on Lagos Island, Hon. Kuye’s early education laid the foundation for a career defined by discipline and intellectual depth. He attended Christ Church Cathedral School, Lagos, before proceeding to the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), where he earned a Bachelor of Laws degree. He was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar, marking the beginning of a lifelong engagement with law, governance, and public administration.
Before venturing fully into politics, Hon. Kuye built a solid professional career in legal practice and corporate administration. He served as Company Secretary of Vigilant Insurance Company Limited and later became a Principal Partner in a law firm, where he gained valuable experience in corporate governance, dispute resolution, and public-sector advisory services.
His entry into public service was marked by grassroots leadership. He served as Executive Secretary and later Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government in Lagos State. In these roles, he demonstrated practical leadership, community engagement, and an understanding of governance at the local level — experience that would later shape his effectiveness on the national stage.
Hon. Kuye went on to serve multiple terms as a member of the Federal House of Representatives, where he earned a reputation as a disciplined legislator and an institutional stabiliser. He held key positions, including Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business and Chairman of the Committee on Federal Government Abandoned Property. His performance and integrity led to the establishment of the House Committee on Public Assets, which he was honoured to serve as its pioneer chairman.
Beyond politics and governance, Hon. Kuye has remained deeply connected to traditional institutions and community development. In recognition of his contributions, he was appointed Baba Egbe Obayori Okunrin (Asiwaju), Akile Ijebu, and later installed as the Otunba Ajana of Ijebu-Ode. These honours reflect his commitment to cultural preservation, unity, and service to his people.
Hon. Otunba Ademorin Aliu Kuye’s life story is one of continuity between tradition and modern leadership. His journey illustrates how royal heritage, when combined with competence and public spirit, can produce leadership that is both relevant and enduring. His legacy remains a testament to service, integrity, and national significance.
