Ex-president Obasanjo, Oba Matemilola, Olori Ameenah honoured at prestigious global awards

Former Nigerian president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola and his Olori, Ameenah Matemilola and Pastor Israel Adebayo Olajumoke were celebrated at the 3rd Prestigious Global Awards and Nordic Africa Business Summit held in Helsinki, Finland.
Chief Obasanjo, represented at the event by Oba Matemilola, received the 2025 Prestigious Global Legacy in Statesmanship and Peace Award in recognition of his contributions to leadership, peace, and diplomacy across Africa.
Speaking on behalf of the awardee, Otunba Adejare Rewane Adegbenro appreciated the organisers for recognising the giant strides of Chief Obasanjo.
The Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola was also honoured for his role in promoting traditional leadership and cultural diplomacy.
Others awardee like Olori Ameenah Adeleye Matemilola received the Global Crown Honor for Global Reconciliation. The prominent Owu indigene, Pastor Israel Adebayo Olajumoke and his wife, Blessing Bolanle Olajumoke were also recognised for their visionary distinction and inspirational leadership.
As a way of promoting Ogun State and Nigeria at large, Oba Matemilola presented adire-branded souvenirs to the organisers, Ceci Educare Oy, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of Nigerians.
A key highlight of the night was the launch of the Global Legacy Awards, named after Chief Obasanjo, Oba Matemilola, and Olori Ameenah Matemilola. Organisers described this as the first time in history that a former president and royals have had global legacy awards established in their honour.
The event organised by Ceci educare Oy, a Finland based education and business development organisation brought together dignitaries, royals, and business leaders from Africa, the Nordics, and the United States.
