ELXG Club Ushers in New Leadership as Adeoye Takes the Helm

The ELXG Club has formally inaugurated its newly elected Executive Council, with Chief Tajudeen Adeoye, a retired senior executive of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), assuming office as President. The colourful ceremony took place at the elegant Terivik Park and Garden Hall, Maitama, Abuja, drawing members and distinguished guests.
Chief Adeoye’s emergence as president reflects the trust and confidence members have in his leadership, consistency, and long-standing commitment to the club. He joined the ELXG Club over five years ago, prior to its formalisation, and has remained actively involved in its growth. He previously served on the outgoing Executive Council as Financial Secretary, a role he executed with diligence and transparency.
An accomplished professional, Chief Adeoye holds a Master’s degree from the University of Ibadan and devoted several decades to public service within the oil and gas sector. He played key roles in the agency responsible for managing Nigeria’s foremost mineral resource before retiring honourably from service in 2025.
Beyond his corporate career, Chief Adeoye is widely known for his dedication to community development and social advancement. His contributions have earned him notable traditional honours, including Baameto of Ibadanland and Babalaje Gbobaniyi, Asiwaju of Ijebuland. He is also a prominent member of elite social circles such as the Lagos Country Club and currently serves as President of the Global Circle of Nigeria.

A devout Muslim, Chief Adeoye is deeply committed to religious and moral development. His passion for the growth of Islam led to his installation as Alaga Adini of Abule Oja Central Mosque, and he also serves as patron and matron to several social and professional associations.
Serving alongside him is Engr. Femi Olubiyo, who emerged as Vice President. A seasoned planner and experienced club administrator, Engr. Olubiyo is a top executive of the Okun Club and an indigene of Okunland in Kogi State. He is widely regarded as one of the strategic drivers of the ELXG Club’s progress.
Other members of the Executive Council include Mr. Femi Adeshina, a retired banker, as Secretary; Alhaji Sharafa Babatunde, an administrator and politician, as Treasurer; and Mr. Femi Kolawole, a banker, as Social and Welfare Officer. The team will steer the affairs of the club for the next two years.
In his acceptance address, Chief Adeoye described his emergence as president as a call to service, stressing that he considers himself a servant-leader committed to collective progress. He pledged to work closely with all executives and members to reposition the club for sustained growth and relevance.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Lukas Durojaiye, emphasised the importance of purposeful leadership, noting that any organisation without meaningful activity risks stagnation. He commended senior members of the club, including Otunba Saheed Adekoya and Otunba Kajola, for their unwavering support, and expressed confidence that the new executive team possesses the capacity to usher the ELXG Club into a new era of achievement.
