America-based Nigerian, Agboola Bankole Enjoins Government To Invest In Homeless Children

A US-based Nigerian, Agboola Bankole Hameed, has urged the Nigerian government to alleviate the plight of homeless and motherless children in the country to prevent the country from imploding.
Agboola gave the charge on Saturday while donating food items to Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

The American returnee said the government should ensure a substantial part of the budget is allocated to provide for the homeless and people living with disability.
Speaking on the importance of giving back to the Orphanage, Agboola noted that it was a way of appreciating God for his kindness and mercy over his life.
Growing up, he was inspired by his brother, who fed homeless people in McDonald, United States of America.
He called on other well-meaning Nigerians not to forget the downtrodden struggling for survival beyond the festive period.

“You can’t drive in Nigeria without seeing some less privileged people. So, it is something that has always inspired me. It really makes sense that as humans, we have to give back to the community.
“These children (orphans) needed people behind them to succeed in life. They are not criminals, we can’t abandon them. The society has to embrace them and give them shelter. So, it’s something that I’ve always kept at the forefront. In fact, this is something I’ve been doing for years in America, but I felt I will make made sense to replicate such in Nigeria. So coming back home and doing this is something that is just a part of who I am, and it’s not going to be one off.
“This is something that I continue to do and make it part of my life. I will just urge other Nigerians and philanthropists out there never to forget the people that are going through hard time this period. This is something that I don’t think is optional, it is something that must be done. Never forget the community that you’re in.
“I’m not politician, but I think it’s important that the government make sure to allocate budgets for things like this. You know, in America, we criticize our government for having enough money to constantly fight wars and not to feed the poor. And that’s something that I think should change the government. The government should always make sure that plenty of the budget is allocated to the homeless. The people that are in need because it’s those people that will be taking over the future of this country.”
