Alaafin Dismisses Rift Rumours, Affirms Unity with Makinde, Ladoja
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, has dismissed speculations of a rift between him, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, insisting that there is no disagreement among them.
Speaking through his palace, the monarch described reports of discord as misleading and unfounded, urging the public to disregard such claims.
The clarification comes amid recent controversies and public perceptions of tension within the traditional institution in Oyo State. Observers had pointed to incidents and differing positions on issues affecting the Council of Obas as signs of a possible divide.
However, the Alaafin maintained that his relationship with both the governor and the Olubadan remains cordial and built on mutual respect, emphasizing the need for unity among key stakeholders in the state.
He stressed that cooperation among traditional rulers and government authorities is essential for maintaining peace, stability, and development in Oyo State.
The palace further reassured the public that there is no crisis within the traditional leadership structure, noting that ongoing engagements among the parties reflect a shared commitment to harmony.
